Health. Active Life

supported by:

Health. Active Life is a project aimed at middle school students, which seeks to develop a set of attitudes and behaviours that play a role in preventing diseases and reducing the risk factors related to them. The project is developed with the support of Metropolitan Life.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE

The actions carried out within the project support the activities of form tutors, or specialist teachers, as they facilitate students' transition to adolescence – a complex period of rapid development, marked by environmental influences and individual behavioural choices.

The project activities help students understand what wellness means, the risks they can face if they don't take care of their health, how they can protect themselves through healthy lifestyle habits, and what options they have to minimize the financial consequences of unforeseen health events.

EDUCATIONAL CONTENT

Health. Active Life offers teachers and students 10 educational activities, developed in an integrated, hands-on learning approach. These enable the assessment of one's own behaviour in relation to the concepts of risk and prevention, the establishment of criteria for identifying and evaluating sources of information, making appropriate and conscious decisions and setting goals for a healthy living.

Skills developed during the project: teamwork, leadership, critical thinking, argumentation, creativity and finding solutions, setting goals and planning to achieve them.

Activities are carried out under the guidance of teachers and volunteers, based on the content and toolkit adapted to school and online learning. The project kit includes the teacher's guide, the student’s workbook, online resources, as well as implementation, assessment, and feedback materials.

“Health. Active Life is a well-organized program that has provided my students, in a relaxed and interactive setting, with all the information they need for living a healthy life. Discussions around risks, the use of a food pyramid and of a weekly timetable containing daily activities kept students interested and encouraged them to actively engage in individual and group exercise." – Teacher, Canuta Ionescu School, Urlati

"During the Health. Active Life program, we learned that risks accompany every action we take, that we need to take much better care of ourselves and that it is important to avoid risks such as unhealthy food or spending too many hours on social media." – Student, Mircea cel Batran School, Turnu Magurele
